You may get any of the above BootMgr error message displays on Windows 7 computer shortly when the computer is turned on, immediately after the Power on Self Test (POST).   • To perform a thorough disk check, select “Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors”.

If you have followed all the above steps but still get a “BootMgr is missing” error message, perform a Startup Repair from the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) immediately:

*Insert the Windows 7 installation disc and start the computer by pressing on the Power button.
*Press a key to boot from CD or DVD.
*Select a language, a time and currency, and a keyboard or input method, and then click “Next” to go.
*Click “Repair your computer”.
*When you are in the System Recovery Options dialog box, choose the drive on which the Windows was installed and click “Next”.
*At the “System Recovery Options” dialog box, click on “Repair your computer”.
*Select your operating system and then “Next”.
*In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Startup Repair.

After a Startup Repair, the BootMgr will be solved at most of the time. However, to prevent it from happening, run your antivirus program regularly to detect and delete all PC viruses. If not, they will severely attack the hard disk and remove any system required files.

Last but not least, to permanently get rid of BootMgr error message you still need to check and repair Windows registry errors.
