This is because when the router lost power, somehow the addresses got changed so the IP address of the computer no longer fell in the pool of addresses maintained by the router. If you are at the first time to get such a DNS not responding error, restart your router, reconfigure it to have the IP address renewed; and then everything will be working find again.

If a reboot of the router does not solve the error for you, manually follow these steps to go:

* Type “ipconfig /flushdns” to flush the stored DNS cache.
* Restart the computer and check if you are able to connect to the Internet without a DNS not responding error message.

If the error message persists, change your DNS sever address with the following steps:
* Go to Start menu, run, type “ncpa.cpl” to open network connections.
* Right click local area connection to select properties.
* Select Internet protocol version(TCP/IPv4) and then click properties.
* Select internet protocol, select “use the following DNS server address”
* Then, you can change DNS server address to global DNS value to preferred 208.67.222.222, also, you can also use Google’s DNS address preferred 8.8.8.8 and alternate 8.8.4.4.
