When starting up the Windows 7 computer, you may receive the following error message:
“File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0Xc0000034
Info: The Windows Boot Configuration Data file is missing required information”

Windows 7 startup error

Most of the time, such a File: \Boot\BCD missing message appears when the Windows Boot Manager (Bootmgr) entry is not present in the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) store; or when the Boot\BCD file on the active partition is damaged or missing. No matter what the cause is, it may stop you from starting up the computer properly.

When finding the Windows 7 computer cannot start up as usually due to a File: \Boot\BCD missing error message, you can directly repair the BCD store by using the Startup Repair option. To do this, you can simply follow these steps:

*Insert the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
*Press a key when you are prompted.
*Select a language, a time, a currency, and a keyboard or another input method, and then click “Next” to continue.
*Click “Repair your computer”.
*Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click “Next”.
*Select Startup Repair option within the System Recovery Options dialog box.
*Follow the on-screen prompt to go and restart the computer when the repair finishes.

By the way, it is better for you to fix the corrupt & broken system files on your PC as they can interrupt the connection of the system and the hard disk, stopping you from booting up the Windows 7 computer & displaying a File: \Boot\BCD missing error message. To do this, just follow the steps here:

*Click the Start button, type “cmd” into the search box.
*When Command Prompt appears, right click on it and select Run as Administrator
*Now type the command SFC /SCANNOW and press enter to go.
*Then, the System File Checker (SFC) will check all the files on your Windows and repair any it finds are corrupt.

Also, a File: \Boot\BCD missing error message will also happen when Windows Boot Manager (Bootmgr) entry becomes corrupt. If the above two steps do not solve the error, you should check and repair all Windows registry errors. Why this entry becomes corrupt can happen in many circumstances, but in particular a simple mistake within the registry database can not only cause the Windows 7 startup error message, but also bring in more serious errors like slow computer performance, unexpected blue screen errors, random computer freezes or ever crashes…It is quite important to regularly maintain Windows registry and make it clean & compact all the time. This is the first assurance to make computer run properly all the time.

In a word, many aspects can stop a Windows 7 computer from booting up properly by displaying a File: \Boot\BCD missing error message. However, any of the above solutions will effectively troubleshoot them and get the Windows 7 PC to run correctly again.
