If you are one victim of this computer error, just read on and you will get available solutions.

hard disk 301failure error

Most of the time, the hard disk 301 error indicates a pending catastrophic failure for the hard drive. When suffering from it, just get all of your important files backed up to external media (Memory stick or hard drive) before the drive completely fails and follow the below steps to deal with it.

First of all, completely scan viruses from the PC. It is known that viruses are able to attack any component of the PC. As the storage place of Windows computer, hard disk has been the main attack object of the computer viruses at most of the time. While it fails for the system to read through the hard disk for some required files, folders, a hard disk 301 failure error message will display. Thus, the first thing you should do when facing with this problem is to completely scan the whole PC and remove all detected threats immediately. To secure your PC and your personal information, it is highly advised that you should let your antivirus antispyware program running in the background all the time.

Secondly, check and fix all errors existing on the hard disk. This is because a minor error within the hard disk or a bad sector can also cause the hard disk error 301 to appear:

*Close all of your current files or applications.
*Open “My Computer” and right-click the hard drive you wish to fix.
*Select “Properties” from the menu that pops up and then the “Error-Checking” tab.
*Click the “Check Now” button. Then a window will display providing you several options. It is best that you can check both the “Automatically fix file system errors” and “Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors” box.
*Click “Start” to continue. Then, a utility called CHKDSK will run through your entire hard drive looking for errors and fixing them automatically for you.

After fixing the errors on the hard disk, you’d better remove all the useless files, programs, folders. Sometimes, these items will take up a large amount of system hard disk space, stopping the system from reading them correctly & displaying a hard disk error 301 message. To get these items cleaned completely, you can directly run the Disk Cleanup utility: click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup; then, select the drive you want to clean up and follow on-screen steps to go.

Fourthly, defragment the hard disk to keep everything in order. As you uninstall a program or remove a file, it is quite possible for some fragmentations to come onto the computer, making the computer run extremely slow or cause the hard disk error 301 when the system cannot recall its required entries properly. A simple disk defragmentation helps to rearrange all the fragmented data on the hard disk. This way, the necessary data can be easily accessed and work efficiently. To defragment your hard disk, just open it by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking Disk Defragmenter; then, you can click on “Defragment Now” to completely defragment your hard disk and put everything in order again.

After all the above solutions, completely scan the whole PC and repair Windows registry errors. The registry contains files and entries that give instructions for all the hardware and software so as to run correctly all the time. The programs will not run correctly when something wrong existing, and even worse, probably generate various error messages such as the hard disk 301 failure error message and force a restart if some file are not in proper working condition. To make the PC run properly, scan the registry for corrupted/missing files or entries, missing shortcuts and DLLs, and every other type of errors with a trusted registry fix tool; and fix all those errors completely. If the system has no problem to read & access the every entry on the hard disk, it will run correctly all the time!

Just as what I have ever said, hard disk is quite important to store all of system files, programs or all important data; thus, do not ignore the hard disk error 301 message. Otherwise, it may serious cause permanent data loss and total computer crash.
