When downloading some purchased contents or performing an update job via iTunes, some might frustratingly get a message indicating that “An unknown error occurred (-50)”. Right now, with the popularity of iTunes and the computer, I believe so many PC users have the same iTunes error -50 message. But do you know how to fix it? If not, follow me right now!

Most of the time, the error code -50 on iTunes was caused by wrong date/time or zone settings. So the first step you should do when getting the error is to check and make sure the date/time or zone settings on your computer are correct. Here, I take Windows XP as an example to show you how to do:

* Click Start, Control Panel, then the “Date, Time, Language, and Regional” Options, and then click Date and Time.
* On the Date & Time tab, check whether they are set correctly or not. If not, you can change them correctly:
->To change the hour, double-click the hour, and then click the arrows to increase or decrease the value.
->To change the minutes, double-click the minutes, and then click the arrows to increase or decrease the value.
->To change the seconds, double-click the seconds, and then click the arrows to increase or decrease the value.
->To change the AM/PM indicator, select it, and then click the arrows.

If there is nothing wrong with the date/time or zone settings but you still get the Apple iTunes error -50, then you can instantly check and update the application to the latest version. If you are using a Windows-based operating system, go to the Help menu and click “Check for Updates.” If you are using a MAC, click the Apple menu in the top right corner of the screen and select the “Software Update” menu item.

Sometimes, a corrupt item within the iTunes will stop you from running the iTunes correctly to redeem a gift cards or edit your account settings by showing you an error code -50. So, if the above steps do not help, you can instantly uninstall the program and then reinstall it on your PC. In many cases, a reinstall job helps to fix kinds of computer errors but not an iTunes unknown error code -50.

To solve the iTunes error -50, you’d better remove BBFW file in the firmware folder of an unzipped IPSW. Most of the time, this can also be used to prevent a baseband update. The device is bootable, if you set the auto-boot to true or use TinyUmbrella and use “Kick Device out of Recovery”.

After all the above steps, to fix iTunes error -50, you should check and fix Windows registry errors. Errors in registry will make the computer run improperly or most of the time performs badly when comparing with the one you have just bought it. A minor registry error will bring in various PC issues just like slow computer performance, frequent computer hung-ups or system crashes, funny behaviors, pop-ups, and more. Fixing the registry errors can in many cases solve the error 29 in iTunes. Some people will try to fix these errors manually but often end up with more serious problems rather than the iTunes error -50. So, it is highly advised that you can download and run a registry clean tool to fix registry errors as well as some other computer errors.

Want to run your computer and your iTunes properly all the time? Follow the above steps to fix iTunes error -50 easily on your own. Then, you will soon enjoy the computer pleasantly with some unexpected errors.
